Did you know that the age of a domain name is an important factor in getting your website ranked highly in the search engines? The search engines figure two things:
- The longer a domain has been around, the higher reputation it must have
- The long a domain is registered into the future, the more likely that the developers of the site intend to “be in business” for the long haul.
We recently launched a new SEO tool for websites which enables you absolutely free access to information about your website, and gives advice about how to improve search engine rankings and more. As we were testing it (it’s still in testing stage) one of our beta testers ran across a site which was 16 years old. This of course led to the question “What is the oldest site on the web?”.
